I've read in different places that with e85 you can bring your timing in faster. Would there be any advantage to locking my timing out at 36 for a race only motor. I'm currently running 14 initial and 36 total by 3000rpm. Thanks Kris

Yeah,if it will start okay that way,go ahead and lock it at 36....A lot of motors will kick back against the starter with the distributor locked....You can use an MSD start retard for easier starting then leave the dist locked....I think that's what a lot of people do......

I have seen some BBC guys running 42* of timing locked.....it depends on compression and cam specs...but OldYeller nailed it....good job buddy.

is 38 * too much on a406 SBC 12 to one CR and 270* cam timing? What would you suggest? thanks jim
