Hey guys i am new to E85 and just converted my holley 2 corner idle 850 to E85 with the quick fuel metering blocks 90 front jets .061 IAB and have not changed the IFR in the blocks 6.5 powervalve, rear has 90 jets no powervalve stock IAB and untouched QF metering block.. I have it running, my AFR is on the gas scale. Idle is 13.8-14.5, light cruise is 11.9-12.7, and wot is 11.8-12.3. The car runs good but seemed to have more power with race gas. I took it out today and did a second gear pull and when i let out it backfired 3 times out the exhaust on decel. It also feels like its loading up when i take off. The idle gets real rough if i try to richen it up more that 13.8, it like to be leaner. What type of AFR's should i be looking for? Sorry the engine is a 393w 13:1, cam is solid roller 264 dur @.050 lift of .621 110 lobe separation. Timing base is 20* with total being 38* by 2500 rpm. Help i think i have to lean it out but all the info i have been reading says the AFR's should be richer but my car does not like it.

I have autolite 3933 racing non projected plugsgapped at .036 because of my dome pistons a regular plug will touch the piston.

I put the ngk 4091 plug in gapped at .030, and i still have the slight loading up in 1st gear until 3000 rpm. I also still have the backfire through the exhaust when i lift after a WOT pull. I am pulling 9 in of vacuum at idle and i have a 6.5 PV should i change to a 5.5 or 4.5? My idle AFR is 13.5-13.9,cruise AFR is 11.4-11.9, and WOT is 11.9-12.4. I know where you said it should be but i think its too rich and loading up.

I think the 3933 are cold plugs....I suggest the 3935 for the carbs I build.
tune your part throttle to get 12.3 and your good.

Thanks Mark, I made some changes and i think for the better, I changed the primary jet to 90 and secondary jet to 98, I changed the primary IFR to .046, and the primary IAB to .077 I now see 12.4-13.1 AFR at cruise Idle is 14.1-14.9 and WOT is 12.5-13. After i upped the rear jet the backfire went away i believe i was getting a lean backfire when i lifted. The car has no stumble and seems good all around. Now to get it to the track and really tune it.
